Tribute to a Founder

We celebrate the strength and leadership of one of our founding members, Mal Joseph, Sr, who left this world on April 5, 2016.

Malleck George Joseph Sr. was born Aug. 31, 1923, to Joe Amil and Annie (Thomas) Joseph in Butte, Mont. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family. He moved to Portland in 1976. 

 Malleck Joseph was self- employed his whole life. He ran the Hi-way Market in Butte for 27 years and owned Mals Supper Club for five years, also in Butte. He owned and operated Lydias Restaurant and Lounge in Portland for more than 25 years. He had an avid desire for cars and was an antique car collector. 

 Mal leaves his wife, Joanne; children, Mal, Denny, MaryJo and Mark; grandchildren, Jacob, Adam, Andrew, Eric, Megan and Kobe; and great-grandchildren, Iris and Thor. 

Memorial contributions in Mals name may be sent to the Rask Family Memorial Fund.
